Venn Diagram: Compare and Contrast Turtles vs Tortoises Or Sea Turtles vs Turtles. You can make your Venn Diagram on a sheet of paper, but here is an example for your reference. Here is an 8 minute video comparing Sea Turtles and Land Turtles. Note: The narrator says they have “evolved” to live in separate places. Perhaps tell your children that we would say they “were created by God to live in separate places.”
Counting: Sing about turtles to the tune of Ten little Indians.
One little, two little, three little turtles
Four little, five little, six little turtles
seven little, eight little, nine little turtles
ten little turtles swimming

Read The Little Turtle By Vachel Lindsay
There was a little turtle.
He lived in a box.
He swam in a puddle.
He climbed on the rocks.
He snapped at a mosquito.
He snapped at a flea.
He snapped at a minnow.
And he snapped at me.
He caught the mosquito.
He caught the flea.
He caught the minnow.
But he didn’t catch me.
Make one of these paper plate turtles: sea turtle or land turtle
Paint/decorate a large box and become a box turtle.
Literacy
Talk about the sounds that the letter “T” makes.
Think of other words that start with the “T” sound: taco, tomato, tooth, toast, toothbrush, teacher, tiger, train, t-shirt, table, tent, ten, two, tree, town, toy, truck, etc.
See if your child can find the “T” on the cover of each of the Turtle Books you read.

Biblical Integration
Using the story of the tortoise and the hare, talk about how God has given each of us a race to run. Our goal is our eternal home where we will be with God forever! We need perseverance. We need to run our own race at our own pace. We need to fix our eyes on Jesus, the one who saved us and who will bring us all the way home!

I pray that this list of books will bless you and that you would run with joy the path set before you!
His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man, but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love. Psalm 147: 10-11
In Christ Alone,
Trish
